Math Crickets

I brought crickets to math class today because I wanted to surprise my math pod (the group I sit with in math class). I whipped out my crickets and my friends, Sara and Colleen, made funny and confused faces. It was amusing. I offered crickets to them but both girls declined; they are not ready for the bug life. However, another friend, Natalie, and my teacher, Nish, tried the crickets.

Natalie was a little squeamish when it came to receiving the bugs but Nish was a superstar. I believe Nish has had grasshoppers before. In my mind, I have "levels" for different bugs. For example, crickets and mealworms are level 1 because they are smaller, softer, and simply easier to obtain and consume. Then, we have something like the Zebra Tarantula, which I would consider a level 8. I would consider grasshoppers a level 3 bug; Nish is a superstar because he can consume level 3 bugs. But anyone who is willing to try a bug is also a superstar.

In the end, both Natalie and Nish agreed that the bugs weren't too bad for consumption.
